drinks yearbook | 143 `As the date of XXXX Island’s closure neared, XXXX beer decided to auction some of the objects from the unique location to consumers. Included in the auction were the iconic ‘loo-witha view’, the 19th hole tinnie, as well as six final trips to the XXXX Island for the winner and three friends. Sydney Craft Beer Week kicked off in October at the Opening Night Gala. 130 events were held at 70 bars, restaurants, breweries and outdoor spaces during the week. October marked one of the biggest events on the industry’s calendar – the drinks association’s 2015 Annual General Meeting. First established by a small group of liquor merchants in 1897, today the association’s Board of Directors represents a group of 28 of the most influential suppliers from the drinks industry. An Exclusive Heineken SPECTRE 007 Party was held at The Cell Block Theatre at The Courthouse, Darlinghurst with a special appearance from actor and television presenter Luke Jacobz. Capturing the illusive nature of James Bond, the location of the event was kept top secret from guests up until the last minute. Formula One World Champion, Jenson Button, and Oscar-nominated actor, Jude Law, became the faces of Johnnie Walker’s new campaign ‘Joy Will Take You Further’ in September. Joy Will Take You Further was an extension of the brand’s famous ‘Keep Walking’ campaign, aimed at championing the philosophy that finding joy in the journey is part of the recipe for success. Tributes Campari Australia sadly informed trade that former Managing Director, Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Islands, Mr. Shane O’Hart had passed away on September 14. Coopers Brewery released its official statement on the passing of Bill Cooper on November 25. The company’s former Managing Director sadly passed away at the age of 82.
