drinks yearbook | 133 Moving On Peter (Pod) McLoughlin, Chief Marketing Officer of Carlton & United Breweries (CUB) stepped down from his role on September 1 due to health and personal reasons. Fifth generation Cooper, Glenn Cooper also retired from his role as Director of Sales at Premium Beverages and from his position as Director on the drinks association Board. As a result, Cooper’s National Sales and Marketing Director, Cam Pearce was welcomed as a new Director to the Board. Cam also took over Glenn’s role at Premium Beverages. Glenn continued as Chairman of the company however. Additionally, Australian Vintage Limited (AVL) sold both its Yaldara winery and brand to 1847 Winery, however the vineyard at the winery was excluded from the sale and would continue to operate as a processing facility until 2016. New Image Havana Club released a new recipe and packaging for Havana Club Añejo Especial, while Grant Burge Wines released new packaging across the red wines in its 2012 Vineyard Range, including the 2012 Hillcot Merlot, the 2012 Daly Road Shiraz Mourvèdre, the 2012 Cameron Vale Cabernet Sauvignon and the 2012 Miamba Shiraz. For beer, XXXX developed a new look for their brand which evolved the XXXX logo and saw changes to every can, bottle and carton across XXXX GOLD, XXXX SUMMER BRIGHT LAGER and XXXX BITTER. It also was announced that XXXX BITTER was updated to recognise the creator Wilhelm ‘Bill’ Leitner, who first brewed it in 1924. Further, Carlton and United Breweries re-launched Cougar Bourbon via a new marketing campaign, which included new packaging with their new ad campaign ‘Cougar Bourbon.
