Carlton & United Breweries, Foster’s Group’s Australian beer arm signed a long-term deal to sell Asahi Super Dry lager in the country. Carlton & United Breweries continued to have exclusive rights to Asahi Super Dry in Australia. “Asahi continues to be a leading brand in the CUB portfolio,” Carlton & United Breweries managing director, John Pollaers said. “We are delighted to cement our partnership with Asahi.” Southtrade International and Casa Noble Tequila went separate ways after fi ve years following a potential confl ict of interests caused by Patron Tequila. Casa Noble moved to Le Shack. Additionally, after seven years with Suntory it was announced that the Matusalem Rum range would now be imported, distributed and marketed by Think Spirits Pty Ltd. 80 | drinks yearbook In August, Brown Brothers made one of the biggest family decisions of its 120+ year history when it acquired Tamar Ridge Estates (whose brands include; Tamar Ridge, Pirie, Devil’s Corner and Coombend) in Tasmania. It marked the first time we, as a family-owned company, had invested in an external brand and followed a lot of discussion about climate change from which we adopted a strategy to source grapes from cooler areas to protect our vineyards from future drought and higher temperatures. This acquisition complements our existing range and we are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. With the obvious appeal of Tasmania as a growing region for pinot, there is an opportunity for us to build on these core values to promote Wine Brand Tasmania.
