The brewing company acquired a majority stake in Cospak Group, which it hoped to use as a “vehicle for its Australasian and rapidly growing export business”. Cospak is the largest packaging trading fi rm in Australasia and also has operations in South Africa and Italy, with annual revenues in excess of $AUD 120 million. James Squire launched The Squire’s Bounty in Salamanca Square, Hobart – the fi fth James Squire concept bar to open nationally and the fi rst in Tasmania. The Oatley family purchased (back into the family) the Cumbandry vineyard and commenced an extensive review of their Mudgee vineyards which resulted in net vineyard holdings of 543ha across eight properties. Grapes for the company’s new Wild Oats Traminer came off the Cumbandry site. The recent oversupply of grapes in Australia has put a lot of pressure on growers, forcing many to close down and leave the industry altogether. Big wine producers have been selling their vineyards and cutting contracts with growers. At Casella Wines, we have bucked this trend. Casella Wines owns more than 2000 acres of vines in the Riverina region but also contracts 422 growers around Australia. Many
