In Spring, Borco, a leading European producer and marketer of international spirit brands and wines and owner of SIERRA Tequila, appointed Suntory Australia, distributor of the multi-award winning SIERRA Tequila range effective from January 2011. SIERRA Tequila, winner of the 2010 International Spirits Challenge and IWSC Trophy 2010, had been distributed in Australia by Halloran Manton for more than a decade. Pernod Ricard New Zealand agreed to sell Lindauer and a number of other New Zealand brands from Gisborne and Hawke’s Bay to Lion Nathan and Indevin for US$66.58 million. The acquirers bought the brands together with their inventories and assets with Rabobank Group as a fi nancial advisor and Bell Guy as legal advisor to Pernod Ricard. Fine Wine Partners announced the signing of ongoing distribution rights to South Australian wine brand Cockatoo 112 | drinks yearbook Ridge. The brand would be totally managed by Fine Wine Partners in both the retail and on-premise channels, while winemaker Rod Hooper was to control all winemaking decisions. VOK Beverages announced plans to re-launch the wine brands held in conjunction with Foster’s Group into the national market. The deal between VOK Beverages and Foster’s Group saw VOK Beverages managing the research, repositioning, marketing, branding, sales and growth of the wine stable.
